Maritime Championship 2010 - Saint John
P.E.I. Speed Skaters perform well at Maritime meet!
P.E.I.’s team of 19 skaters took home five medals from the Maritime Short Track Championships held at the Beaverbrook Arena in Saint John on the weekend.

Carly Connell, Taylor Johnston and Andrew Binns took home gold medals for winning their divisions  over tough competition from Nova Scotia and New Brunswick clubs.  Megan Campbell of Summerside won a silver medal and Kyle Connell a bronze.  Also representing Speed Skate P.E.I. at the two-day meet were Scott Beamish, Daniel Cottreau, Jack Connell, Nathan Cudmore, Clare Cullen, Thomas Trotter, Michael Rogers, Michael Pass, Jared Vriends, Korrina LeClair, Kassandra LeClair, Victoria Trotter, Michael Trotter, Kristen Binns and Coach Phil Byrne.  175 skaters took part in the meet.

The Speed Skate P.E.I club is for skaters of all ages and abilities.  New skaters are welcome.  Practices are at the Charlottetown Civic Centre on Tuesday and Thursday evenings and Saturday afternoons.
